Our Group

Midnight Ride is a top 40s cover group. We perform a wide variety of styles, including Rock, Pop, Country, R&B, 80’s, Disco, Motown, Funk, Hip Hop, and blues. Our goal is to get you dancing and rockin’ out to your favorite hits!

Our Story

Midnight Ride was started by Shawn Blakely in 2009, and the group has grown and evolved since! We now perform across six different counties in California and even play occasional shows in Nevada.

Meet the Band

The band is composed of four core members: Bassist/Vocalist Shawn Blakely, Guitarist/Vocalist Clinton Kirby, Female Singer Anna Bonuelos, and Drummer Steve Graves. We also have an auxiliary keyboardist, Mar Manuel. For bigger shows we feature the Funky Boys, our Horn Trio composed of Bruce Martineau(Trumpet), Bob Binder (Saxophone), and Dean Montgomery (Trombone). For wineries and smaller venues, Midnight Ride performs as an acoustic duo.

Shawn Blakely

Band Manager, Bassist, and Lead Vocalist

Shawn Blakely is the high-flying bassist/vocalist and band manager of Midnight Ride. He is based out of Temecula and is the founding Member of Midnight Ride, going back to December, 2009. Shawn studied music theory at Ventura college and prior to Midnight Ride, cut his teeth performing in coffee houses and restaurants across Ventura and L.A. counties. Shawn is heavily influenced by The Beatles, British Rock, 60’s pop, the Eagles and Crosby, Stills and Nash. Shawn enjoys writing out vocal charts and displaying his high-energy during Midnight Ride’s shows. When not playing music, Shawn enjoys spending time with his 2 small children and traveling the globe with his family.

Clinton Kirby

Guitarist and Lead Vocalist

Clinton started playing in bands in high school in the Deep South in the late 80s. He rode the alt-rock wave of the 90s with a succession of original bands in and around Hattiesburg, MS. In the 2000s, he co-founded the alt-country group Buffalo Nickel and had his biggest taste of success with original music, playing both the CMJ New Music Marathon in New York City and South by Southwest in Austin. The band opened for many great acts like Loretta Lynn, Leon Russell, Shooter Jennings, and Wilco In 2011, Clinton and his family moved to SoCal and he played guitar and bass with several local cover bands. He still releases original music under the name Handtruck and does a weekly electronic music live stream under the name Twymn.


Lead Vocalist

Jexzi is a Chicana based singer-songwriter based in SoCal. She started her musical career in 2012, picking up saxophone in her school band and joining the music theater. She later studied voice and also learned bass, guitar, ukulele and piano. In addition to fronting Midnight Ride, Jexzi performs her own original material all over SoCal. Her voice has lander her gigs opening up for Dramarama, The Tempress, DIego Verdaguer, and more. She has also competed in television on programs such as NBS’s Spanish version of The Voice. Jexzi has recently had the honor of recording her own original music with Grammy winning producer, Manu Jalil, in Mexico City

Steve Graves


Steve started his drumming career in the mid ‘70’s, and has been playing ever since. Eventually earning his B.M. from Cal State University Long Beach and a Master’s from the American Band College at Sam Houston State University, he has been teaching band to middle school students full time for 35 years. His percussion performance career includes 16 years as a musician at Disneyland, playing in professional and community concert bands and orchestras, big bands, jazz combos, and various top 40/rock/funk groups. He also writes and arranges music for school ensembles, and has several of his works published and in use across the country and abroad.

Mar Manuel


Mar lives in Ontario, CA but hails from the Philippines and the band refers to him as “the thrilla from Manila”. He has toured with one of Manila’s most popular bands VST & Company as well as many other artists from the Philippines and the U.S. He loves playing all styles of music, stage interactions, collaborations, and session work. Mar is always smiling enjoys the outdoors, road trips. traveling, good food, and working out.

The Funky Boys

Trumpet, Tenor Saxophone, and Trombone

The Funky Boys are a Horn Trio made up of Mike Rego (Trumpet), Bob Binder (Tenor Sax), and Dean Montgomery (Trombone). They perform with Midnight Ride in bigger events like Casinos, Weddings, and outdoor events.
